Death Note 22: More rules?

Thoughts: Although Death Note has definitely regained its former excitement, I have to admit this episode’s purpose seemed purely to introduce the next one. Some people like conclusions to each episode and some don’t. It’s just the way it goes. However, something quite juicy is the cliff-hanger at the end. Now, you must agree that you can’t wait for the next one.

When watching this episode, a few areas really surprised me. Firstly, the new rules that were introduced. There’s a ‘Great god of death’. Blimey. He must be a bit powerful! Interestingly, we also have Light making a rather large mistake. He made it very clear that it was indeed Higuchi and didn’t bother trying to cover it up. I was interested to see a flaw in his character; something to make him seem more human that we never saw in the earlier episodes as he seemed consumed by the Death Note. And now an update on Misa: In the previous entry, I commented that Misa seemed to show her more intelligent side. However, there’s nothing more stupid than speaking loudly in her incredibly shrill voice while Light’s on the phone to the select few of the Yotsuba group. Surely that’d give away L’s identity or certainly narrow the possibilities down considerably? And lastly, poor Matsuda-san! I really do feel sorry for him. He always seems to be put in a difficult position and now is not any different. I cannot wait to see the conclusion and I really hope Matsuda gets out okay. Although, I have a suspicion Higuchi will wriggle out of this one.
