Thoughts: As I had suspected, this episode was a bit of a cliff hanger. Of course having read the manga my urge for the next episode isn’t overwhelming. This time the animation seem a little off, too often the scenes where too dark, and it was hard to make out what was going on. Although it’s just an act, really nice to see Clare’s “human” side. Idea of the mission itself was pretty creative, with the stealth mission and the pills which suppresses Clare’s power. Can’t forget to mention Clare’s weapons and outfit, have much more of an assassin feel to it than her normal appearance. Again, next episode should be good, titled “Clare’s awakening”, I guess we you shall learn a little more about Claymores.

Summary: The night was young, inside a cathedral there was a priest’s corpse. A group of holy men fear the situation, father Vincent claims there is no other choice but to call “them” for help. Clare once again left Raki’s side, she met with the mysterious man. She was assigned a new mission, to slay the yoma in Rabona. However, Rabona is a holy city that would not permit any unnatural beings to enter the city, this of course includes Clare, a Claymore. She was given 3 pills, they suppresses her powers, giving her eyes a natural color so she could disguise as a human. However, that also means that she cannot sense any yoma.

With Raki pretending to be Clare’s little brother, they got a room at a local inn. After dumping all their luggage in the room they set off towards the cathedral. Raki notices how quickly Clare could change personalities from her cold hearted self to a gentle young lady when faced with other people. Apparently she had been trained to do so, to act like an aristocratic girl (snob) or smile like a prostitute. At the Cathedral, passing through a few guards they arrived at the baptismal hall. There she walked up to father Vincent, while pretending to be baptized she discusses the matter. Of course this had to be low profile. Father Vincent told her to go to the tower at mid night, but she had to be careful since the security will be really tight.

The inn owner was just cleaning out the finished dishes, when Clare thanked him for taking care of her and her “brother”. Raki was asleep, Clare explained to the owner that he had eaten too much. Just chatting away, Clare said that her father had left them some antique to sell and thats how they earn money to survive. After the owner left, Clare sets off, Raki told her to be careful. In her black clothing she leaps out the window.

Jumping from building to building, she assess the securities below. Clare then toss a grappling hook to the top of the tower and swung herself across. Upon the tower, father Vincent was waiting. He told Clare some information such as all the deaths had happen inside the cathedral and there are guards patrolling every night. Like every other time, Clare told the priest that some one will come and collect the money after she had completed the job. Prior leaving, she also asked if the church can talk Raki in if anything was to happen to her. Being quite surprised father Vincent agreed.

On the way back to the inn, knives where thrown at Clare. It was two guards, they had found her. Engaging her in battle, the 2 guards where surprised to find out the intruder was a women, a silver eyed witch. Knowing they are no match for her, they did not pursue her.

Raki wakes up, Clare was sitting by the window, her eyes are back to silver. The pills only work for half a day, hence they are short on time. Suddenly 2 guards bursts into their room, they where the ones that attack Clare last night. Quickly Clare put her hood over her head, the younger soldier approached her and pull down her hood. Clare’s eye was no longer silver, she had taken he pill in time. Still the soldier where suspecting her, Raki bit his arm, he said his “sister” was very gentle, pure and that she would not lie. Luckily the other soldier, who was broader and older, stopped Raki and the other soldier before a fight began. The soldiers leaves the inn. Clare warns Raki not to get too attached to her, or he will get hurt.

Going to the church again, Clare spoke to father Vincent. Another person had fallen victim to the hand of the yoma. He did not understand how, all the entrances were guarded. With this Clare concluded that the Yoma was inside the building. Once again at night she sets off, however this time before she could reach the cathedral, the 2 guards from before were waiting for her. Galk, the older soldier, rushed at her with his sword while the other soldier threw knives. A dagger in each hand, she blocked the attacks, Clare warn them that if they continue to stand in their way she will not hold back. The battle raged on, suddenly there was a loud scream from inside the building. Clare immediately rushes inside, a corpse on the floor with all the guts eaten. While examining the corpse a pair of eyes glowed behind Clare. Barely managing to dodge, she knew this was a “voracious eater”, a cunning yoma that has a large appetite. 3 knives hit the yoma’s chest, Galk and his soldier friend arrived. However they were no match for the yoma, they just got in the way of Clare. As the yoma attacked Galk, he thought he will die, but Clare jumped in the way. The episode ends with Clare having the yoma’s claw impaled through her body.
