EDIT: I fail! I managed to make a typo in the title, “claremore” wtf was I thinking?
EDIT2: Wow I managed to get the previous post title wrong as well, “luck star”, >_> today must be an unlucky day.
Thoughts: Wow, with just 2 episodes they have pretty much gone through all of Volume 7. I wonder if there is a particular reason for this, since a few scenes were taken out from the manga and the anime is speeding through the plot. Nevertheless this weeks installment of Claymore was excellent as usual, a few surprises and new ideas brought into the story once again, it just gets better and better.
So psgels‘ hypothesis was correct (and he doesn’t even follow the manga!), Clare is only one quarter yoma since she took on Teresa’s flesh, which would explain why she is 47th in the organization. Although it seemed like it didn’t really matter, poor Clare got defeated not only once but twice. All four of her limbs were cut off over the span of these 2 episodes, Ophelia is indeed evil. The concept of being an offensive or defensive warrior was interesting too, and since Clare had always thought of avenging Teresa, she is obviously an offensive type. This means she won’t be able to regenerate her arm, which would be really lame if the main character only had one arm which isn’t even her fighting one.

Judging by Irene’s words, Priscilla is unbeatable since Irene was defeated so easily and she single handedly (pun not intended >_>;) beat Ophelia. Not only is it a measure of Priscilla’s power but it also shows how weak Clare is, perhaps she can excel at reading yoki and predicts attack patterns but she is still comparatively weak. On the other hand Irene is teaching her the quick sword which would make Clare a much better fighter and be able to stand up against the single digits.
Next episode looks like its going to be a big fight, Ophelia has awakened and Clare appears to be loosing the battle. Also a new character is introduced, looks like she needs an eye patch I bet there is a story to go with it. SIGH~ 1 month left till next chapter of claymore >_>;.

Summary: With Ophelia coming rapidly behind her Clare was sprinting as fast as she could, however she came to a halt. It was a dead end, a cliff hanging over a river. Ophelia releases her yoki as she prepares for battle, to her surprise Clare suppressed her yoki. Ophelia thought Clare has given up and hence it was boring for her, however when she attacked Clare managed to block every single one of her attacks. Straight away she realized Clare was reading the flow of her yoki in order to predict her movements. Ophelia was excited, she apologized for calling Clare boring and she prepares to use “that”.
Like before Clare reads Ophelia’s yoki and attempts to block the incoming strikes, however she was slashed, Clare was confused, she could read the direction of the attack yet she failed to guard herself. After a few hits Clare was on the ground, Ophelia explains that her technique was called the “Ripppling Sword” and because most of her opponents died after seeing her technique Ophelia doesn’t have a nickname like “phantom Miria” or “windcutter Flora”. Realizing her strategy won’t work, Clare release her yoki and dashed towards Ophelia. Quickly moving behind Ophelia Clare swung her sword, but Ophelia was disappointed. Ophelia cut Clare’s right arm off with ease, following that attack was another which slashed Clare on the chest and caused her to fall down into the river.

Clare, still holding onto her arm, managed to survive and get back onto land. She then attempts to reattach her arm, however in front of her was Ophelia, waiting. Ophelia praised Clare for her clever plan to pretend to die, however Clare’s reluctance to give up her arm when she fell of the cliff made Ophelia realize it was all a trick. She then explains to Clare that there are 2 type of warriors, those who want to survive by killing (offensive) and those who wants to survive by protecting (defensive). Judging by Clare’s personality and strength she was an offensive type, which means it will be difficult for her to reattach limbs or to regenerate. Hence Ophelia states that she was not going to sit there and watch while she reattach her arm. With a few swings Ophelia destroys the arm on the floor.

Still, Clare did not given up. She feebly attacks Ophelia but with no success, not before long Ophelia cuts off her left hand as well. With no hands to hold a sword, Clare was shocked. Suddenly a cloaked individual appears, Ophelia was angry, apparently this stranger “ruined” her fun, hence she launched an attack at the mysterious figure. Her attacks were blocked, although the cloaked person didn’t even appear to move, Ophelia was confused. She was started to get really angry, so she attacked with her special technique which was also deflected. The stranger praised Ophelia for her interesting technique and strength but it was useless against the quick sword. The hood fell and Irene’s face revealed, with ease she defeated Opehlia.

Clare wakes up in a hut, she was confused, her left hand was there yet her right arm was gone. Then Irene enters the room, apparently Clare reattached her arm before falling unconscious. Irene put down some food by Clare and told her to eat up and rest, however Clare was eager to leave since it has already been 1 week since she was knocked out. Irene refused to let Clare waste her life so she force Clare to stay in bed and rest. In the evening Clare thanked Irene for the food and she demanded to leave. Irene explained to her it was pointless for her to leave now, since she was weak (only ¼ yoma). Her goal of trying to kill Priscilla will be impossible, as Irene showed Clare that she has also lost an arm, she realized how powerful Priscilla was. However Clare was stubborn she still wanted to leave as soon as possible. Irene have no choice, she needed to teach Clare the Quick sword in order for her to survive. Meanwhile Opehlia awakens in the forest.

Haha, I thought ‘Claremore’ was an intentional pun, not a typo…btw you may want to change the post slug too
Karura, Thanks. I serious don’t know what has gotten into me today, not only blogging but in maths I have also been making lots of silly mistakes…. sigh~
This show should be called Claremore ! hehe
Really though I’m sure you’ve read the manga and at times it switches to other characters, but it’ll always be Clare who is the main character in the end. The manga seems to always tease you thinking that they are gonna introduce a new character as the main character, like the part the manga is at now…
Yay for Irene! She’s back and wow, she’s hot in that outfit. Was LOL’ing where she went Jedi Master Flurry Lv 5 on Ophelia who had a ‘I have only Lv 3 Flurry’ look on her face.
Also, I can’t remember the last time the main character got beaten THIS badly, even while using their own special skills. Ophelia was a monster to begin with, but to recognize that Clare was reading her youki in mid battle - 0.0 scary.
Jedi indeed, Ophelia may have been like a monster to begin with but now she IS a monster. Looking forward to their battle.
