Seirei no Moribito 15-16: History is fake!

Thoughts: Seems like Seirei no Moribito is starting to pick up, after enjoying a little peace and living as a commoner, Chagum is about to be chased again. Episode 15 was probably one of the most important episode so far, with a few twist and surprises the goals seems to have completely changed. How the story unfolds with suspense and when both parties find out the truth at the same time was actually really effective. It’s like hearing a story with different people telling you each chapter, but they both arrive at the same ending or conclusion.

Even though Balsa and Chagum is being targeted again, this time the emperor’s intention is completely the opposite to what it was before, instead of assassination, it is to retrieve Chagum. However, unfortunately for Balsa, either way they plan to kill her since she is only in the way. Which is sort of ironic, since the terms Balsa promised was to keep Chagum alive. The fact that the whole of history was false and the water fiend inside Chagum is actually a blessing rather than a curse really surprised me, I knew there would be another reason for them to go after Chagum again, but I was not expecting this at all.

What else came to be as a surprise was the death of Sagum, it was so sudden and unexpected. They don’t seem to explain much either, it seems that he had been given lots of responsibilities to carry out as a prince and the fact his younger brother has passed away, has been burdening him. I didn’t really see the point of killing him off, since this does the plot no benefit, perhaps this is setting Chagum up to be the future King.

The strange behavior of Balsa at the end of episode 16 leads me to believe she have already noticed something is wrong and planning a way out. Next episode looks like Balsa and Chagum is going to make a run for it, as expected of course, but they also run into Shuga whom appears to be injured.
