Murder Princess 6(end) and review.

When Murder Princess was first released in the spring season along with all the other shows, I thought it was one of the better ones. But perhaps because it was scheduled for 1 episode per month on dvd, I had forgotten about it. Then when the second episode came it didn’t feel the same and as the episodes came out one by one Murder Princess became a rather medicore show.

The story and plot was definitely one of the elements which let the show down, it was predictable and very basic. Of course I didn’t expect a series with a fantasy setting to have a brain busting plot but it would have been nice to see them add a few twists in or something. Another thing which let the series down was the villains. Their actions aren’t really justified by their reasons, may be they should have elaborated on why they did it since what I saw was a little brief.

Despite the predictable story and villains, Murder Princess does have good fight scenes, developments as well as music. The action is quite good, especially with Falis’ dynamic swordsmanship when complimented by the high energy music. I think the developments through out the six episode is very well done, a lot of time spent on how Falis is coping as a princess and her relationship with the real princess.

So over all I don’t think there is anything deep to Murder Princess and it was fun to watch even if things are predictable. The fights were good and the high energy music really suits it well. So if you are looking for something fun to watch while not thinking too much of it, this series will be perfect for you.

Thgoughts on episode 6 (spoiler): A few things I thought was probably rushed due to the 6 episode limit, like how Falis recovered so quickly and perhaps the prince’s motive for his actions should have been explained more. However, the animation and music is pretty good and the ending itself was quite well executed, it was quite touching to see Pete and Dominikov leaving which I felt could have been better if they did some developments on it rather than spending all the time showing how the relationship between Falis and Milano was growing (which was done very well).
