Ruki’s Winter ‘07/’08 Checklist

It’s a little late, but then again I haven’t exactly been the most active blogger recently.

There are a couple of series (listed below) which I am particularly interested in, most of them being sequels. In fact I am rather excited and looking forward to them, as for other the series I’ll do what I normally do, watch a few episodes and decide to keep or drop (although recently I’ve been keeping a lot more than I’ve been dropping.)

Aria The Origination

Having loved the first two series (Animation and Natural) as well as the OVA, I am expecting more of the same this time. Even now I am surprised at how gondoliers in training, rowing around Venice on Mars can be so enjoyable, definitely one I am looking forward to, more specifically; Alicia.

Not sure how many episodes it will be, but hopefully 26+. The manga has already been scheduled to end soon with sixty chapters in total, so perhaps Aria the Origination will also be the last of the Aria anime series T__T.

Minami-ke Okawari

The first series just ended and I am already craving for more. Luckily, Starchild seems to have a weird fetish of making two series from one title, well… according to Dreamgazer anyways. Again, not too sure how many episodes this will be but I am guessing it would be 13 just like the first series.

Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino

The first series was really quite unique; a slice of life tragedy series. It pretty much revolved around the relationship between the “cyborgs”( brainwashed girls which have been artificially enhanced for combat) and their handler. Judging by the synopsis from ANN, it seems like there might be a little more action and perhaps even a plot.

Either way, I am looking forward to this perhaps even more than Minami-Ke and Aria. This show is about more than just “lolis with guns”.

Ookami to Koushinryou (Spice and Wolf)

I’ve never heard of this series before, apparently it originates from a light novel series. The synopsis was what caught my attention, for some reason it sounded really…. fun. Reading around, I found that this is supposed to be a fantasy story without swords or magic but instead a lot of trade and economics. This, if anything, adds my interest for the series. Besides, all the anime I’ve seen with “wolf” in it’s title has never been that bad.

Those four are the ones I am most looking forward to this coming season, or rather the current season since some shows has started today. Already I’ve heard stuff like “excessive fanservice in Rosario” on irc, so I wonder how this season is going to turn out.

Seems like Minami ke is quite popular >=P. Have to say it’s well deserved though.
