Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino 04: Oh why, Oh why?!

I am speechless.

Through out the first series Angelica was one of my favorite characters, her story was a sad one and by the end I really did feel sorry for her. But this episode really ruined it for me, having already seen the changes in the first three episode perhaps I ought to have expected it. It’s mainly the animation and execution, which I am sure I am not the first to point out. I was on IRC when DiGiKerot said something along the lines of the manga being just as well animated as the anime, unfortunate but true T_T.

In terms of content, I find it a little strange. I thought at the end of last season Marco had already decided not to treat Angelica so coldly anymore. It was only by the end of this episode Marco started praising Angelica for her performance, it feels like some of the developments have “overlapped”. Nevertheless, I am just glad Angelica has a smile on her face once again.

    Angelica’s still cute in Season 2. Rico’s character has a drastic change. In season 1, she’s kinda, well, quiet? Hehe. Anyway, I like her now, as well. :)

    SEASON 2 IS GOD AWFUL!
    IT STEPS ON AND DRAGS EVERYTHING S1 ESTABLISHED THROUGH THE MUD!
    SEASON 1: THE ORGANIZATION IS CYNICAL, RUTHLESS AND EFFICIENT.
    THEY TAKE GIRLS NO ONE WANTS AND DRUGS THEM, USES THEM FOR MEDICAL EXPERIMENTS AND TURN THEM IN TO ASSASSINS.

    TEATRINO: THE ORGANIZATION SEEMS TO BE KNOW BY EVERYONE, HECK HENRIETTA DRAWS A GUN INFRONT OF 20 POLICE MEN. I MEAN SURE THEY WERENT ALWAYS STEALTH NINJAS IN S1 BUT THEY KEPT THEIR SHOOTOUTS TO EMPTY BACK STREETS.
    ALSO THE HANDLERS GETS ENCOURAGED TO TREAT THEIR GIRL NICLY AS IF SHES SOME KIND OF POKEMON. IN S1 THEY DID WHATEVER THE HELL WAS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE MISSION. AND WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THE CONSTANT BLUSHING, DID THIS SUDDENTLY BECOME A SLICE OF LIFE ANIME?

    TL;DR:
    ORIGINAL GSG: “OH NOES, THIS KID MIGHT JEOPARDIZE THE MISSION, KILL HIM!”
    TEATRINO: “OH NOES, THEY’RE GONNA KILL THIS KID, JEOPARDIZE THE MISSION!”

    ALSO CAPSLOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL!

    They ruined the whole fanchise. I can’t believe that they changed the whole cast. I hated Henrietta’s voice in S2, it makes me wanna rip my ears off. They also changed the characters. I loved how they looked and their styles in s1. Especially Rico….God what happened to her…
    SHAME ON YOU! Yu Aida for letting this happen. Redeem yourself in season 3.

    It’s the horrendous music that ruined it. change in animation was bad, yeah sure. but i could take it if they did better BGM and voice acting. It was played throughout the episodes at the wrong time, like when there are some scenes there weren’t supposed to have any BGM but there were, or maybe the music was freaking inapt, e.g. Triela-Hilshire scene after Pinocchio beaten her in ep 3, the BGM was just bad, super inappropriate. the classical european styled music with postmodern in season 1 completely vanished, thrown out of the window, replaced by inappropriate hippy j-pop music in action scenes and b-grade sad music in the relevant scenes. why didn’t they just use the music from the old season which is way better? or why they even bother to make the damn season at all?

    i don’t like their eyes, way too big compared to the 1st season. and i don’t the stupid camera shaking style or the seperating-cut-scenes-with-a-white-flash thingy. the script and animation style sucks real bad yeah
