Quick First Impressions (before bed): Code Geass R2-01

Brief Summary: It has been almost a year since the rebellion. With his memories sealed away along with his Geass, Lelouch now lives a normal life of a student. One day his search for a strong chess player leads him to C.C.

Thoughts: Not a bad start. In fact, in many ways it’s awesome, although none of the answers I had been waiting for so eagerly were answered. Of course, I was a fool to be expecting any since they are pretty much what the show runs on. I have to admit the whole setting was a bit confusing (actually it still is), hopefully they will explain at least some of the stuff very soon, simply because I am dying to know…

I loved how the whole episode built up to the last scene, Zero’s resurrection. It reminded me of Death Note, when Light regained his memories (as well as his arrogance). Even when C.C unlocked the seal, I hesitated to believe that the Lelouch we knew was actually back, that is until he said. “It wasn’t I who was at fault. It was the world”.

The animation was really good too, even though it didn’t have that HD-ness, it felt fluent and generally nice. This was especially outstanding when bunny Karen jumped and you can almost feel her crotch crashing into the camera, indeed bunny Karen is the way to go. So that’s it from me, not a bad start, I am beginning to feel the fan boy within me being drawn out again. Time for bed.

    Yes!

    After the last Gundam 00 episode a week ago, I asked myself, “how can I survive without Gundam 00, my source of boobs, lulz, explosions, and mecha?” (I’ll admit, Gundam 00 has FAR exceeded my expectations… it was quite good to be honest.)

    And then there was the Code Geass… I had high expectations for Code Geass… it’s been what? Almost 2 years? Will it meet my expectations or will it flop?

    So, during the first 5 minutes of episode 1, I asked myself, “wtf is going on? This doesn’t make sense. I hope they didn’t screw it up.” But towards the end I was like “FORK YEA!!” This is gonna be another great season at this rate. What a way to start it.

    *Inner fanboy awakens* Huh? What? What’s Gundam 00?

    GOOO Lelouch! And Pizzahut. And Kallen. And her boobs. And C.C.

    Also, I hope we get more of the loli princess.
